This is to anyone who may be concerned about the legalities of this film.
Not too long ago, Warner Bros. released this quote prior to the San Diego Comic-Con:
"Warner Bros. definitely appreciates the enthusiasm and respect of its fans. We will continue to monitor the use of Warner Bros. properties as used in fan films. However, we will only consider taking action against such films that are either commercial in nature, are commercially exploited or otherwise engage in or depict inappropriate activity. Further, we will try to work with the comic book conventions, such as Comic-Con, to develop fan film screening programs that do not conflict with Warner Bros. rights in its properties."
I would like to ensure anyone who may be a member of the powers-that-be who may come across this site to be aware of my cooperation and complete compliance with this statement.
I'm creating this film as my senior culminating project, which in my state, is a requirement for High School graduation. My love of the Batman character is extensive. My respect for Warner Bros. and DC Comics for bringing a character like this to life in the pages of the wonderful comics and on the screen is limitless. I am extremely grateful for all the great stories that have been provided to me over the course of my life, which is only a fraction of the life of the complex and heroic character brought to us by the WB and DC.
My use of the DC logo is only to acknowledge that they are the true keepers of the character. They hold the key to his longetivity. And they will continue to bring us the best stories.
This is simply my way of trying to give back to what they've given us, the fan community. I will not pocket a tenth of a cent from the production of this film. I will have to purchase many things from licensed masks to the Batman Begins soundtrack in order to make this work. The activity in my film is not unlike anything that the Batman himself has seen in the films and stories that Warner Bros. and DC has provided us.
I guess the point of all of this is that I am eternally grateful to Bob Kane, Bill Finger, Paul Levitz, Christopher Nolan, David Goyer, Michael Uslan, Benjamin Melniker, Alan Horn, and any other people who are influential in bringing the Batman to life today. I'm making this with the highest respects for those who show us the professional Batman at work, be it in the films and comics.
Also, I'd like to graduate this year, if that's okay.
